Kell Sorrell was born to loving parents 30 years prior to the fall of Dalamud. His mother, Rral Xaman, a Hrothgar and his father, Sindri Iryut, a Viera; both who had left their homes to escape the expectations thrust upon them by their respective cultures. It is with them that the story begins...



Though they struck out seperately, they had run into one another often enough to become friendly rivals. Sindri initially considered Xaman little more than a frustration. Xaman always found Sindri handsome and was always trying to be friendly, but it often backfired either due to her clumsiness or bad timing... They’d failed several times in their first decade working in often competing ventures and finally, with the literal burning remnants of their latest undertakings behind them, they agreed to try working together. With the last of their savings, they purchased a relatively barren island and spent the next 20 years bringing it to life with the help of Bastien (a scrawny elezen teen who had been hired after trying to rob them), Everly (a hyur hired 5 years into the work) and two lalafell hired alongside Everly, Bahu Radohu and Kefiya Qufiya.In that time, they managed to grow the farm into a well-oiled operation. They fell in love, adopted most of the staff as part of the family, and had their first child. They decided to label the farm as “Sorrell Farms”, partly for the sour-tasting plants that had once crowded the land, but mainly to make it their own - separate from the places they came from. (Even if they do still get clients telling them it’s spelled wrong). Their first son was born in the latter half of the second decade - Ibi, a hrothgar matching his mother’s coloration. He would go on to start fishing ventures that allowed for amateur and professional fishers alike to catch in the waters around La Noscea.Around the 25th year on the farm, they were approached by gleaners bearing messages from Sharlayan. News had come to the citystate of the work done to restore the land, how it now flourished, and they wished to discuss the cultivation methods used and to teach them in Sharlayan. It was imperative that multiple methods of soil enrichment be learned for the future, the Sorrell's were told.Hesitant at first, Sindri and Xaman eventually agreed and took turns working with Sharlayan scholars and farmers, insisting they come to the farm as often as possible to not interrupt work. Though this became the more infrequent of methods, it gained an additional hand or two for farmwork each time someone was there. More often, they spent time on the Sharlayan homeland, a large island to the north of them. Though a fair distance away, they were still close enough that visits were not too inconvenient.Sindri would entertain no more than a month at a time away from the family, with at minimum a month together in between each visit. The schedule worked for the first year, but as everyone settled into the new roles and the farm continued to run smoothly, more and more time was spent in Sharlayan. Xaman and Sindri took alternating 6 month stints working in the upper levels of Labyrinthos, with visits during the months apart. It was honest work and helpful for others, so they didn’t actually mind. They would also have plenty of years left when finished to make up for the "lost" time.Though they never officially became a part of Sharlayan, their assistance afforded them certain benefits. They gained access to plant samples they never would have been able to get before this. Once enough had been cultivated in Lab, they were able to take their own samples to grow on the farm - giving them a unique set of exports. Their family was also entitled to education in Sharlayan, giving all of the children from the farm some of the best teaching there was. Though some stayed to pursue careers with the scholars or gleaners, most returned to the simplicity of life on their parent's island.With this arrangement, the family flourished as much as the farm had. Bastien and Everly brought 4 children into the world, 3 of them before Sharlayan had reached out and one more after - Rennir, Marcellain, Anaëlle and Tobias remained the couple’s only children. Rennir met and married a Gleaner named G’nora Batih, becoming a gleaner himself and only returning to the farm for holidays. Their son, G'ren Nora - born just 4 years before Kell, followed in his parents footsteps.Kell was born in the year 1542, 14 years after Sharlayan had first made contact. He grew up mainly on the farm and had an easy, though not pampered, childhood. As he grew older, he and his cousin Tobias grew close, becoming fast friends. Never interested in learning, he started schooling late, spending a few years In Sharlayan between the ages of 8 and 12, along with Masasa Masa, a young Hyur adopted by Bahu and Kefiya in 1550. Neither of them enjoyed it much - Kell because reading and numbers were difficult and Masasa because she was bored - so after getting the very basics, they returned home and dedicated themselves to working there instead because that was much more interesting.Tobias, Kell and Masasa made life on the farm interesting for all of the adults, as hardworking as they were troublemaking. His cousin Anaëlle, who managed the farm when Xaman was away, brought home two lovers, Hezzwyb and Aldwyn. Between the three of them, a new generation was started, all younger than Kell by a decade. They had a gaggle of kids over the years - Loetpfrew and Maetitu were born about a year apart. Ebard and Marthe and Marie were triplets three years later. Wilfram was born six years after that and Aphie was a bit of a surprise six years after that, the last child born before the fall of Dalamud.)Kell was content to stay where he was, tending fields and letting life pass him by. He knew he’d have a long one, so flowing with the simpler times was fine!Things took a sad turn when Kell was 18, when his uncle Kefiya passed away and, within the next week, his uncle Bahu followed. Masasa was inconsolable for the next few months as they’d been her first family. They had 10 whole years together, but it wasn’t nearly enough. She slowly recovered from her grief with the help of Kell and a mutual friend, Wem. Wem worked with Ibi on his fishing boats and had at one point tried fooling around with Kell, but it didn't really work out. They ended up becoming inseparable from Masasa when in port (and Kell thinks they are adorable together).Only a few years after those deaths, Sindri brought back a young Lalafellin girl from Sharlayan. She was named Satoto and would be Kell’s new sister. Bright and intelligent, the young girl was obsessed with plants from a young age and made sure everyone knew it. When she finally returned to Sharlayan for education, she took in every bit of knowledge she could. (Satoto and her cousin Marie actually ended up very close friends as they both remained in Sharlayan most of the time.)Marie may have been ahead of her in schooling by a few years and they may have had aspirations to different things, but they worked well together. Marie aimed to become a Scholar and Archon while Satoto wanted nothing more than to become a gleaner like her uncle Rennir. (Both achieved their goals with ease and are official citizens of Sharlayan, as Rennir was before them.)In 1572, the fall of Dalamud resulted in the deaths of Bastien and Everly who were in Limsa at the time. Marcellain, who had been with them, survived to bring the news to the family. The farm was far enough away to escape the effects, though Ibi soon found that he’d have to adjust his fishing routes as the aftermath irrevocably changed the world. Marie chafed against the isolationist path Sharlayan had taken, feeling that perhaps the country could have helped. After attaining her archon mark, she left for Eorzea in the wake of her mentor and found the remnants of his Circle of Knowing, joining the Scions of the Seventh Dawn in 1575.In 1577, after living a fulfilling 35 years on the farm and finally itching to see more, Kell decided to visit several places that his family had spoken fondly of, starting with Limsa Lominsa. He strapped his axe to his back, knowing that even a woodcutter’s tool would avail him in a pinch, and set out for adventure! On the way to Limsa, he had a strange dream and nothing would ever be the same for him again…

Given to the Warrior of Light, he brought her home and she was promptly adopted by his favorite cousin.After the events of Shadowbringers, a tall AuRa calling herself by the same name appeared, revealing herself as the Ran from the Exarch's doomed timeline. How she survived so long is unknown, but mayhap the colorful scales and far longer set of secondary horns have something to do with it?
